2025 was a year of progress for our member agencies, from federal advocacy for water policies and sustainable water awards to important infrastructure upgrades and water education outreach. As we kick off the new year, our member agencies are sharing tips for your 2026 tap water resolutions.
Drink more tap: We’ll start off with a resolution that’s as easy as turning on your faucet – drink tap water daily. Our member agencies work hard to test, treat, and deliver tap water to Southern California communities. Make a sip of tap water part of your daily routine to stay hydrated.
Review your water quality report: Water agencies post their water quality report — also known as Consumer Confidence Report — every July. These reports reflect a water agency’s commitment to ensure safe, reliable tap water reaches your home. Learn more from our previous blog about what’s included in a Consumer Confidence Report and why they’re important.

Reduce plastic waste: Leave single-use plastic water bottles in 2025 and step into the new year with a reusable water bottle filled with tap. Reusable water bottles significantly reduce plastic waste. Additionally, the tap water inside your reuseable water bottle uses less resources and energy to produce than single-use plastic water bottles.
Reduce indoor and outdoor water use: On average, families use more than 300 gallons of water daily, with about 70% coming from indoor water use. Conserve water by checking for and repairing leaks or running appliances like your dishwasher and laundry when you reach a full load. Tour a water agency: In 2026, visit your local water agency to get a behind the scenes look into how tap water flows to Southern California faucets. It’s an opportunity to see the great work of our member agencies’ equipment, infrastructure, and dedication to tap water.
